This spring, the Living Ag Classroom connected more than 4,000 elementary students across North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota to agriculture through hands-on learning experiences. With stops in Jamestown, Bismarck, Minot, Fargo, and Lisbon, the program continues to bridge the gap between the farm and the classroom.
Students explored interactive “Farm-to-Fork” stations covering topics like soil health, farm safety, commodities, and careers in agriculture. A highlight for many was the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council booth, where students discovered the many uses of corn and how it shows up in everyday life.
The program’s success was driven in part by student volunteers, including FFA members and Sigma Alpha students from North Dakota State University, who helped lead lessons and engage younger audiences.
Programs like Living Ag Classroom play a vital role in building agricultural awareness, sparking curiosity, and helping students better understand the importance of agriculture in their daily lives.
