The North Dakota Corn Utilization Council (NDCUC) has elected a new leadership team for 2024. Carson Klosterman of Wyndmere, ND, has been elected chairman, following Tysen Rosenau’s years of leadership. Carson, a 4th generation farmer who grows corn, soybeans, and sugar beets, will work alongside Vice Chairman William Wagner of Neche, ND, and Secretary/Treasurer Justin Halvorson of Sheldon, ND.
In his first message as chairman, Carson expressed gratitude for the work of past leaders and emphasized the importance of partnerships and advocacy for North Dakota corn producers. He noted the significance of initiatives like the Renewable Fuel Standard and upcoming opportunities, such as sustainable aviation fuel, to further support the industry.
The NDCUC uses funds from a small portion of corn sales to promote research, education, and advocate for policies that support corn producers. This year, Carson and the NDCUC will continue collaborating with groups like the National Corn Growers Association, the U.S. Grains Council, and the ND Corn Growers Association to drive progress. Carson also shared his experience on a recent trade mission to Bangladesh, where connections were made that led to sales of dried distillers’ grains.
The Council remains focused on the 2024 growing season, addressing challenges ahead while working to ensure a solid farm bill and pushing for impactful research. Carson concluded by wishing all farmers a successful growing season and expressing his commitment to the NDCUC’s mission.
