North Dakota Corn Utilization Council Elections to Be Held This Spring in Districts 3 and 4
Organized in 1991, the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council (NDCUC) utilizes corn checkoff dollars as outlined in North Dakota Century Code 4.1-04. Corn is assessed at the rate of one-quarter of one percent (.0025%) of the value of a bushel of corn. These assessment dollars are forwarded to the state treasurer, and the NDCUC is responsible for determining how these funds are invested on behalf of North Dakota corn producers.
There are clear guidelines governing the use of checkoff dollars. Funds may only be used for research, education, market development, and promotion. Through these investments, the corn checkoff supports the creation of new and expanded markets for corn while working to increase profitability and long-term opportunities for North Dakota producers. Ultimately, the checkoff represents an investment in the future of the state’s corn industry.
Through strategic and thoughtful use of producer dollars, the NDCUC works to advance the use of corn and its co-products in innovative ways, building demand both domestically and internationally. The Council also invests in research that helps farmers improve productivity and remain strong stewards of the land.
The NDCUC board consists of seven members representing seven districts across the state. Per the NDCUC election schedule, elections will be held this spring in Districts 3 and 4.
District 3 is comprised of Divide, Burke, Renville, Bottineau, Rolette, Towner, Cavalier, Pembina, Williams, Mountrail, Ward, McHenry, Pierce, Benson, Ramsey, Walsh, Nelson, and Grand Forks Counties.
The District 3 election will be held on March 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. CT and will take place via Zoom.
District 4 is comprised of Eddy, Foster, Stutsman, Griggs, and Barnes Counties.
The District 4 election will be held on March 11 at 1:00 p.m. CT at the Eddy County Extension Office, located at 205 3rd St. SE, New Rockford, ND 58356 or via Zoom.
County representatives are elected by their peers and may serve up to two consecutive four-year terms on the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council board. Those elected this spring will begin their terms on April 1 following the election.
Representatives completing their terms this year include Tysen Rosenau of Carrington, who represents District 4, and William Wagner of Neche, who represents District 3. Both Rosenau and Wagner have served on the Council since 2018, providing leadership and valuable producer perspective to guide investments and priorities on behalf of North Dakota corn growers.
Carson Klosterman, Chairman of the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council, encourages North Dakota corn producers interested in serving their fellow growers to consider participating in the election process. “Serving on the Council is an opportunity to help guide investments that directly impact corn demand, research, and market development for producers across the state,” said Klosterman. “We are grateful for the service of those completing their terms and look forward to welcoming new voices from Districts 3 and 4.”

Members of the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council come together from seven districts statewide to serve North Dakota’s corn producers.
