North Dakota Corn Council Member Spotlight
Representing Region 7 – Scott Spear
The North Dakota Corn Utilization Council is proud to welcome Scott as the newly elected board member representing Region 7. He brings a lifetime of farming experience, a strong connection to his community, and a passion for agriculture.
Scott grew up on his family farm ten miles south of Drake, North Dakota. A graduate with honors from Drake High School, he was actively involved in FFA, 4H, sports, and music. After high school, he attended Bismarck State College, where he earned an Associate’s in Applied Science degree in Farm and Ranch Management.
Farming has always been a central part of his life. He officially began farming at the age of 18 alongside his parents, though his experience in agriculture started much earlier. Today, he continues to farm with his family, raising corn, wheat, soybeans, and canola. In recent years, his children convinced him to add chickens, ducks, geese, fainting goats, and two mini cows to the farm—animals that are more like pets and used for 4H projects.
In 2002, he married his wife, Rachel. Together, they have three children: Emma (19), Lydia (17), and Everett (13). The couple also founded SpearPoint Arms, a business they’ve built alongside their farming operation.
Scott has always been active in his community. He served as a first responder and a member of the Harvey Ambulance Service for 10 years, where he also held the role of vice president and board member. He was a member of the Anamoose Fire Department, served on the Sheridan County Farm Bureau board, and was on the Farm Credit Services of North Dakota board. He serves on the Drake High School Board and his local township board.
His decision to run for the North Dakota Corn Utilization Council was driven by his deep connection to agriculture and his belief in strong local representation. Corn has always played an important role on his farm, and he is committed to continuing the excellent representation from Region 7. He is excited about the opportunities the Council will bring and is dedicated to being a strong voice for
his region and corn growers across the state.
Fun fact: Scott owns a couple of custom-built fast cars that run on E85—blending his love of speed with his support for ethanol!
